Aspiring candidates for approximately 5,800 School Librarian posts in government schools across Bihar can apply online through the official website, sletregistration.cbrt.co.in, until October 21, 2026.

This eligibility test marks the first such examination for school librarian positions in Bihar’s government schools in 18 years, with the last recruitment having taken place in 2008. The Bihar Education Minister has directed officials to expedite the recruitment process, reflecting a long-term demand for qualified librarians as over 43,000 government schools in the state are strengthening their library facilities. The Bihar Librarian Eligibility Test (LET) 2026 is an eligibility certification and does not directly lead to appointment; successful candidates will receive a certificate and can then participate in subsequent recruitment notifications.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Relaxation

To be eligible for the BSEB School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026, applicants must be residents of Bihar and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from a state-recognised university, adhering to the board’s prescribed syllabus. General, EWS, BC, and EBC candidates are required to have completed graduation with at least 45% marks. A relaxation of five percentage points in the graduation marks requirement applies to eligible categories, allowing SC/ST, differently-abled, and women candidates to apply with 40% marks.

Examination Pattern and Syllabus

The School Librarian Eligibility Test will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and will consist of multiple-choice questions. The examination will carry a total of 150 marks and will be held for 150 minutes, equivalent to two hours and 30 minutes. There will be no negative marking in the examination.

The question paper will be divided into two sections: Library Science, carrying 100 marks, and General Knowledge, carrying 50 marks. Each question will carry one mark. The syllabus for the test will be based on the Library Science bachelor’s degree curriculum prescribed by recognised universities in Bihar.
