GPAT: Apply to Bihar government colleges for M.Pharm admission by 2026

Government Pharmacy Colleges in Bihar are accepting Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) 2026 scores for admission to their Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) programs. This initiative aims to develop technical manpower for anyone working in Pharmacy, addressing the needs of health services, the pharmaceutical industry, and the Drug Control Administration.

The GPAT 2026 exam was recently conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), with its scores granting admission to M.Pharm courses nationwide. Across India, more than 780 AICTE-approved colleges participate in the GPAT admission process, collectively offering approximately 39,890 seats for postgraduate pharmacy programs.

GPAT Admission Process and Participating Institutes

After qualifying GPAT 2026, candidates are required to apply separately to their preferred participating institutes. The subsequent counselling process is conducted at the individual college or university level. When selecting an institute, candidates are advised to consider factors such as accreditation, fee structure, infrastructure, location, and cutoff ranks.

Bihar currently has one pharmacy college that accepts GPAT scores for M.Pharm admission. The Government Pharmacy Institute, established in 1958 by the Health Department, Government of Bihar, offers D.Pharm and B.Pharm courses. The institute’s objective is to generate technical manpower capable of handling professional activities related to dispensing drugs by registered persons, in compliance with Section 42 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

Admission Criteria for Other Pharmacy Colleges in Bihar

While the Government Pharmacy College in Bihar accepts GPAT scores for M.Pharm, other institutions in the state follow different admission procedures. For instance, admission to Bihar College of Pharmacy is strictly based on merit determined by a written test notified by the college. This college also reserves seats for foreign nationals and NRIs as per directions from AICTE and the Government of India.

The admission process at Bihar College of Pharmacy adheres to the norms and conditions set by the Pharmacy Council of India (P.C.I.), AICTE, and Magadh University, Bodh Gaya. The merit list for this institution is compiled based on the entrance test score, followed by counselling and a personal interview. S.B.N.M. D. Pharmacy College Alani, established in 2007, offers a two-year D.Pharma program with fees set at INR 45,455.

Expected GPAT 2026 Cutoffs for Top Government Colleges

For candidates aspiring to secure admission in top government pharmacy colleges across India through GPAT 2026, specific cutoff ranks are generally anticipated. These cutoffs provide an indication of the competitive scores required for admission to various prestigious institutions. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Mohali, for example, typically expects candidates to be within the top 300 ranks.

Other prominent institutions also have their own expected rank ranges. The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai is projected to accept ranks within the top 500, while Panjab University and IIT BHU are expected to consider ranks up to 600. Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR) Delhi and Jadavpur University may accept ranks up to 700 and 800 respectively.
