IBPS Po Exam Structure for 2026

The IBPS PO selection process generally comprises three stages: Prelims, Mains, and an interview. The Prelims examination is primarily a qualifying round, with its scores not contributing to the final merit list. The Mains examination, however, is the scoring and merit-deciding stage, carrying the maximum weightage in the final selection. For IBPS PO, the final merit is calculated based on 80% weightage from Mains performance and 20% from interview performance.

A negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer will be applied in IBPS PO exams. The minimum qualifying marks for the IBPS PO interview are set at 40% for General category candidates and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates. The IBPS PO Mains also includes a Descriptive Paper, which assesses written communication in English, potentially evaluated by an automated scoring mechanism.

The Prelims exam for Clerk positions, similar to PO, is designed to test basic aptitude and speed, with questions typically ranging from easy to moderate difficulty.

For IBPS RRB Clerk Prelims, the examination focuses on Reasoning and Numerical Ability. Computer Aptitude is frequently integrated with the Reasoning section in Mains exams for various posts. IBPS has also indicated minor weightage changes in the exam pattern from 2025.
