KCET 2026 Round 2 Seat Allotment Date Postponed; Results to be Published After August 20

Thousands of engineering and professional course aspirants across Karnataka will have to wait a little longer for their admissions. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially postponed the release of the KCET 2026 Round 2 provisional seat allotment result.

Originally slated for release on August 19, 2026, the allotment results will now be published after August 20. The delay comes as KEA extended the option entry modification window to give candidates additional time to adjust their college and course choices following the Round 2 mock allotment results.

Why KEA Postponed the Allotment Date?

The decision to shift the schedule was taken to ensure candidates have enough flexibility to re-evaluate their options. On August 17, KEA released the Round 2 mock allotment result, which gives candidates an estimated look at where they might get a seat based on their rank and preferred options.

Because students frequently change their preferences—adding new courses, removing low-priority colleges, or changing the preference order—KEA extended the choice modification deadline to August 20 at 9:00 AM. The allotment algorithm can only process real seat assignments after all options are locked on the server.

How Candidates Can Modify Their Options?

Students who wish to modify their option list before the web portal closes can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea).

  2. Click on the UGCET 2026 Round 2 Option Entry link.

  3. Log in using your Application Number and password.

  4. Add, delete, or change the priority order of engineering, architecture, farm science, or other professional choices.

  5. Lock and submit the choices before the 9:00 AM deadline on August 20.

What Happens After Results Are Declared?

Once the provisional allotment result is announced, students must log in to the KEA portal to exercise one of the four post-allotment options:

  • Choice 1: Accept the allotted seat and freeze it to complete fee payment and college reporting.

  • Choice 2: Accept the allotted seat provisionally, but participate in subsequent rounds for a higher preference seat.

  • Choice 3: Reject the allotted seat and proceed to the next round for better choices.

  • Choice 4: Reject the allotted seat and exit the KCET counselling process entirely.

KEA has requested all candidates to regularly check its official website for the exact date and time of the result link activation.
