NEET Fee Refund 2026: Last Date to Verify Extended Again! Here’s How to Get Your Money Back

In a major relief for medical aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has once again extended the deadline for candidates to update and verify their bank account details to claim their NEET UG 2026 application fee refund.

If you haven’t submitted or corrected your banking information yet, you now have a final window to secure your money. According to the latest official notification, the last date to update your details on the NTA portal has been pushed to July 31, 2026 (until 11:50 PM).

Why is the NTA Refunding the Fee?

The decision to issue refunds traces back to the massive disruption earlier this year. The original NEET UG 2026 examination, which took place on May 3, 2026, was cancelled following serious allegations of question paper leaks affecting over 20 lakh students. The exam was subsequently re-conducted on June 21, 2026.

To compensate the impacted students, the NTA committed to fully refunding the examination fees paid during the initial registration process.

The Latest Data: Why the Deadline Was Extended

The primary reason behind this fresh extension is that a massive chunk of applicants had still not completed their profiles. Data released by the NTA reveals that up until the previous deadline of July 14, 2026, only 11,46,401 candidates (roughly 52%) had successfully submitted their bank details.

To ensure that the remaining 48% of students do not lose out on their money due to minor clerical or timing errors, the NTA decided to keep the portal open until the end of July. The agency confirms that it has already started dispatching the refund amounts to the bank accounts of the 11.46 lakh students who verified their information early.

Step-by-Step Guide to Claim Your NEET UG Refund

To prevent payment failure, make sure the bank account you provide is active and belongs to either you (the candidate) or your parents. Follow these steps to complete the process:

1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the official NTA NEET portal at neet.nta.nic.in. Look for the active link on the homepage that reads: “Final Opportunity to Confirm/Update Bank Account Details for NEET (UG) 2026 Fee Refund”.

2. Log In Securely: Enter your official Application Number and Password to access your dashboard.

3. Pass the Two-Factor Authentication: For financial security, you must complete the OTP-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) sent directly to your registered mobile number.

4. Verify or Edit Bank Details: Once inside, check the bank details displayed. If correct, check the confirmation box. If there is an error in your Account Number or IFSC Code, click to edit and enter the fresh information carefully.

5. Upload Document & Submit: Upload a clearly scanned copy of a cancelled cheque or the first page of your bank passbook showing the account holder’s name, number, and IFSC code. Hit Submit to finalize the application.
