RRB NTPC Undergraduate: Apply by November 13, 2026 for 1,688 posts

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released indicative notices on September 21, 2026, for the RRB NTPC Undergraduate (CEN 07/2026) recruitment. This notification aims to fill 1,688 tentative vacancies for Non-Technical Popular Categories (Under Graduate) posts across Indian Railways.

The online application process for these undergraduate positions is scheduled to commence on October 15, 2026, and will conclude on November 13, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Candidates will need to apply through the official online portal, rrbapply.gov.in.

Undergraduate and Graduate Vacancies

The indicative notice for undergraduate posts (CEN 07/2026) details 1,688 vacancies. These positions include Trains Clerk (188 vacancies), Commercial cum Ticket Clerk (CCTC) (700 vacancies), Accounts Clerk cum Typist (200 vacancies), and Junior Clerk cum Typist (600 vacancies). These posts are categorized under Pay Level 2 and Pay Level 3 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Separately, the Ministry of Railways had announced a total of 5,165 approved vacancies for RRB NTPC 2026-27 on September 3, 2026. Out of this total, 3,477 vacancies are designated for Graduate-level posts (CEN 06/2026). Graduate posts include Goods Train Manager (2,750 vacancies), Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor (CCTS) (56 vacancies), Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA) (300 vacancies), and Sr. Clerk cum Typist (371 vacancies). The online application process for graduate-level posts is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 8, 2026, with a last date to apply of November 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

Application Process and Fees

Candidates interested in the undergraduate posts must submit their applications online between October 15, 2026, and November 13, 2026. The age for eligibility for these posts will be considered as on January 1, 2027. The detailed Centralized Employment Notification (CEN 07/2026), which will include final eligibility criteria, medical standards, selection process, and other recruitment conditions, is expected to be uploaded on October 14, 2026, on the official RRB websites.

The application fee for General, OBC, and EWS categories is ₹500, with ₹400 refundable upon appearing in CBT 1. For SC, ST, PWD, Women, Ex-Servicemen, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward categories, the fee is ₹250, which is fully refundable upon appearing in CBT 1. The selection process for both undergraduate and graduate posts will involve CBT 1, CBT 2, Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and a Medical Examination.

Vacancy Trends and Competition

The approved vacancies for RRB NTPC have shown a consistent downward trend in recent years. In 2019, there were 35,281 NTPC vacancies, which decreased to 11,558 in 2024-25 and 8,868 in 2025-26. For the current 2026-27 cycle, 5,165 vacancies have been approved. This trend indicates increasing competition for candidates seeking Non-Technical Popular Categories posts in Indian Railways.
