This examination was specifically conducted for working teachers in government, government-aided, and private schools across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, who have been employed since September 1, 2025.

A total of 61,386 candidates appeared for TNTET Paper I, which was held at 222 examination centres across 38 districts in Tamil Nadu. Examination Schedule and Evaluation Process
The TNTET 2026 examination was conducted in an OMR-based format. Paper I was administered on July 4, 2026, followed by Paper II on July 5, 2026. Following the examinations, the tentative answer key and an objection tracker were published on July 15, 2026. All representations and objections received within the stipulated timeframe were thoroughly examined by subject experts.
A team of subject experts then finalised the Final Answer Key, and their decision regarding this key is considered conclusive. Based on this Final Answer Key, candidates’ OMR sheets were evaluated, and marks were awarded. The result PDF displays the candidate’s registration number, marks scored, and qualification status (Pass / Fail), but it does not include any rank or merit position.
Qualification Criteria and Certificate Issuance
The minimum qualifying marks for TNTET 2026 vary by category. Candidates scoring at or above these specified marks are declared TNTET Qualified. For candidates in Tamil Nadu, the result status is indicated as either “Qualified” (Pass) or “Not Qualified” (Fail). Qualified candidates in Tamil Nadu will be able to download their Teacher Eligibility Certificate from their respective dashboards five days after the results were declared.
