AILET 2027 registration open: apply by November 10 for BA LLB, LLM, PhD

National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) has initiated the online registration process for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2027. Aspiring candidates for BA LLB, LLM, and PhD programmes can submit their applications through the official website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The application window, which commenced on August 7, 2026, will close on November 10, 2026.

The AILET 2027 examination is scheduled to take place offline on December 13, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This two-hour, pen-and-paper (OMR sheet based) test is conducted annually by NLU Delhi for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.

AILET 2027 Application Process and Fees

The application process for AILET 2027 is entirely online. General and OBC candidates are required to pay an application fee of ₹3,000. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, the fee is ₹1,000. SC/ST and women candidates who are Below Poverty Line (BPL) are exempt from paying the online application fee.

A correction window for the application form will be made available for three days following the November 10, 2026, deadline. Candidates should note that their registered email ID will serve as their User ID for the AILET 2027 account.

Required Documents and Specifications

During the online application for AILET 2027, candidates are generally not required to upload documents or certificates, with the exception of a BPL Certificate for SC/ST applicants claiming exemption. However, specific file size and format guidelines must be adhered to for uploaded documents.

A passport-size photograph must be in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format, with a white background, and a maximum file size of 1 MB. The scanned signature, also in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format, should be on white paper with a black or blue pen within a 6×3 cm box, with a maximum file size of 1 MB. For BPL Certificates, Passports (for foreign nationals), and PwD Certificates, the maximum file size is 2 MB.

Examination Details and Eligibility

The AILET 2027 examination will feature negative marking in the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) sections, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. There is no maximum or minimum age limit for appearing in AILET 2027 for any programme. Foreign nationals or OCI/PIO applicants are exempt from appearing in AILET 2027 if they have applied under these specific categories.

For admission to the BA LLB (Hons) programme, General category candidates must have a minimum of 45% marks in Class 12, while SC/ST/PwD candidates require 40%. Foreign Nationals need 65% in Class 12, with their admission based on merit without requiring AILET scores. NLU Delhi does not accept CLAT scores and is not affiliated with the CLAT Consortium.

Important Dates and Post-Application Steps

The AILET 2027 notification was released on July 23, 2026. Following the application deadline, an application correction window is expected in mid-November 2026, with admit cards likely to be released in late November or early December 2026. The examination will be held across various cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai, among others.

Candidates are advised to keep a copy of their submitted application form for future reference and to regularly check the official website of National Law University Delhi for updates. At the time of admission or counselling, candidates will be required to produce original documents such as Class XII and X mark statements, Character Certificate, Transfer Certificate, and relevant category certificates. They should also keep two identical photographs for use during the admit card, entrance test, counselling, or admission processes.
