Integration of Tarl Baseline Assessment

The Formative Assessment-2 for classes 3, 4, and 5 will incorporate the TaRL (Teaching at the Right Level) baseline assessment for Telugu, English, and Mathematics. This assessment will be conducted using Tool-2, focusing on evaluating students’ foundational learning levels. For TaRL testing, only levels 1-5 should be recorded, and the ‘0’ level should not be considered. The highest level achieved by each child in the TaRL assessment will be recorded.

The TaRL framework categorises student proficiency into distinct levels for each subject. For Telugu, these range from Beginner Level to Story Level. In English, levels span from Beginner (cannot identify letters or words) to Story Level (able to read and understand story text fluently). For Mathematics, the levels progress from Addition to Word Problem, with ‘No Operations’ designated as level 0, which is not to be recorded in this assessment.
