NLU Delhi AILET 2027 Exam Date Announced (13 December 2026): Applications Open August 7 at nludelhi.ac.in

National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi) today, July 23, 2026, announced the examination date for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2027. AILET is a national-level law entrance examination conducted by National Law University (NLU) Delhi for admission to its BA LLB (Hons.), LLM, and PhD in Law programmes. Registrations for AILET 2026 start on August 7, 2026 on the official portal – nludelhi.ac.in. The last date to apply for AILET 2027 exam is November 10, 2026. The AILET 2027 exam will be held on 13th December 2026 (Sunday) from 2-4 PM.

An application fees of Rs. 3,500 is also applicable for General/OBC/EWS students. While SC/ST/PwD students are required to pay Rs. 1,500. SC/ST candidates below poverty line are exempted from AILET 2027 application fee. While most NLUs accept students via CLAT scores, NLU Delhi only accepts AILET 2027 scores for admissions.  Read ahead for the complete schedule, eligibility and exam pattern.

AILET 2027: Complete Schedule

The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has released the AILET 2027 official notification. Candidates seeking admission to BA LLB (Hons.), LLM, and PhD programmes can submit their applications online from August 7, 2026 through the official admission portal.

Courses Opened Through AILET 2027 Exam

Unlike CLAT, AILET scores are accepted only by NLU Delhi. The entrance exam is the gateway to the university’s BA LLB (Hons.), LLM, and PhD in Law programmes.

Eligibility Criteria for AILET 2027 Exam

Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements prescribed by National Law University (NLU) Delhi before applying for the AILET 2027 examination. The criteria vary depending on the programme chosen.

• Educational Qualification (BA LLB): Must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
• Minimum Marks (BA LLB):
  • General: 45% aggregate marks
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 42% aggregate marks
  • SC/ST/PwD: 40% aggregate marks
• LLM Eligibility: Candidates must hold an LLB or equivalent law degree with at least 50% marks (General) and 45% marks (SC/ST/PwD).
• Final-Year Candidates: Students appearing in their qualifying examination (Class 12 or LLB, as applicable) are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions at the time of admission.
• Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in AILET 2027.
• Nationality: Indian nationals can apply through AILET. OCI/PIO and Foreign National candidates are also eligible under the university’s admission policy, though separate provisions may apply for foreign nationals.

How to Register for AILET 2027 Exam: Step-by-Step Process

Candidates can complete the AILET 2027 registration online through the official NLU Delhi admission portal by following the steps below.

• Visit the Official Website: Go to the NLU Delhi admission portal once the registration window opens.
• Register Yourself: Click on the AILET 2027 registration link and create an account using your name, email ID, and mobile number.
• Verify Your Credentials: Validate your registered email ID/mobile number through the OTP or verification link received.
• Fill the Application Form: Log in and enter your personal, academic, communication, and category details carefully.
• Select the Programme: Choose the course you wish to apply for—BA LLB (Hons.), LLM, or PhD.
• Upload Documents: Upload your recent passport-size photograph, signature, and other required documents in the prescribed format and size.
• Pay the Application Fee: Complete the application by paying the prescribed fee through the available online payment modes.
• Review and Submit: Verify all the entered details before submitting the application form.
• Download the Confirmation Page: After successful submission, download and print the application confirmation page and fee receipt for future reference.

AILET 2027 Exam Pattern

The AILET 2027 will be conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode for admissions to NLU Delhi. The undergraduate (BA LLB) paper will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be completed within 2 hours.

National Law Universities (NLUs) are public law schools established across India, aiming to improve legal education standards. Currently, there are 27 NLUs spread across various states in the country.

These institutions often have distinguished Chancellors, including the Chief Justice of India and various Chief Justices of respective High Courts, who also serve as visiting professors. While most NLUs admit students via CLAT, NLU Delhi and NLU Meghalaya are notable exceptions.

The Consortium of National Law Universities

To further enhance legal education, the Consortium of National Law Universities was established on August 19, 2017. Its primary aim is to improve the standards of legal education in the country and serve the justice system through legal education, according to the Consortium’s official statement. Twenty-Five National Law Universities have joined the Consortium as members.

Other Prominent Nlus

Beyond NLU Delhi, other National Law Universities also contribute significantly to legal scholarship and education. The National Law University of Meghalaya (NLU Meg), for instance, is a premier higher education institution dedicated to advancing legal education, research, and policy development. NLU Meghalaya conducts its own admission tests, including the Meghalaya Undergraduate Admission Test (UAT), Postgraduate Admission Test (PAT), and PhD Entrance Test (PET).

Similarly, National Law University, Jodhpur, contributes to legal discourse by publishing “Scholasticus” (ISSN 0975-1157), a bi-annual, double-blind student-reviewed and edited journal, showing the academic rigor within these institutions.
