The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) announced the eligibility criteria, registration process, and key dates for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027. The examination is set to take place on December 6, 2026, for admission into Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) law programs for the Academic Year 2027–2028 at National Law Universities (NLUs) across India.

The CLAT 2027 notification was released on July 20, 2026, with online registration commencing on August 3, 2026. Aspiring candidates have until October 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM to complete their applications. The exam will be conducted in an offline, pen-and-paper format, with a duration of two hours.
CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria for UG and PG Programs
For undergraduate programs, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. General, OBC, PwD, NRI, OCI, and PIO candidates are required to secure a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Class 12, while SC and ST candidates need 40%. Students appearing for their Class 12 examinations in 2027 are also eligible to apply provisionally.
For postgraduate programs, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. 3 years / 5 years) from a recognized university. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in LL.B. is required for General, OBC, and PwD candidates, and 45% for SC and ST candidates. Final-year LL.B. students are permitted to apply provisionally.
A significant aspect of the CLAT 2027 eligibility is the absence of an upper age limit for both UG and PG programs. This policy follows a Supreme Court ruling that removed age restrictions on legal education.
