CLAT 2027: Register and pay fee by October 31. Registration opens August 3

The Consortium of National Law Universities has released the application fee structure and important dates for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027. The online registration and application process for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes will open on August 3, 2026, and close on October 31, 2026. The examination is scheduled to be held offline on December 6, 2026.

This examination is crucial for aspirants seeking admission to five-year integrated law programmes and postgraduate LLM courses at the National Law Universities for the 2027-2028 academic year. The fee structure remains consistent for both UG and PG programmes, with specific rates for different candidate categories.

CLAT 2027 Application Fees and Payment

The application fee for CLAT 2027 is set at ₹4,000 for General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), Non-Resident Indian (NRI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates. For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Below Poverty Line (BPL), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, the fee is ₹3,500. These fees are non-refundable and non-adjustable, covering the registration and the right to sit for the test, along with administrative costs.

Payment of the application fee must be made online only. Candidates are doing bearing any bank transaction charges incurred during the payment process. An optional purchase of previous years’ question papers is available for an additional ₹500, which is not included in the main application fee. The Consortium advises candidates to submit their applications well in advance of the October 31, 2026, deadline to prevent any last-minute technical difficulties.

Registration Process and Important Dates

The online enrolment for CLAT 2027 will commence on August 3, 2026, through the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Candidates must register using a personal mobile number and email ID. The deadline for submitting the application form, complete in all respects and after fee payment, is 11:59 P.M. on October 31, 2026. The CLAT 2027 examination will be held in offline mode on Sunday, December 6, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Eligible PwD candidates will receive extra time, with their examination concluding at 4:40 P.M.

Required documents for upload include a front-facing passport-size recent photograph, signature, and category certificates if applicable. These documents do not require attestation and must be uploaded in PDF format only. Indian Nationals, NRIs, PIO card holders, and OCI card holders are eligible to appear for CLAT 2027 for PG programmes, while Foreign Nationals are not eligible. If a candidate submits multiple online application forms, only the last one will be considered, and fees for previous submissions will not be refunded.

Scope of the Application Fee

The CLAT 2027 application fee primarily covers the costs associated with application processing, document verification, registration for the entrance examination, and online application management. It does not include other potential expenses such as coaching, study materials, college tuition, travel expenses, accommodation, counselling participation charges, or admission fees levied by individual National Law Universities. The Consortium of National Law Universities states that the application fee is a small component of the overall financial commitment involved in pursuing a law degree.

Candidates are advised to keep all required documents ready before initiating the application process and to download or save the payment receipt for future reference. Regular visits to the CLAT 2027 website are recommended for any updates regarding the examination.
