How to Calculate RBI Grade B Prelims Marks?

Candidates can calculate their RBI Grade B Phase 1 marks using the official marking scheme. The formula to calculate the RBI Grade B Prelims score is:

Total Marks = (Number of Correct Answers × Marks Awarded for Each Question) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × Negative Marks)

Response Type Marks Calculation
Correct Answer +1 mark
Incorrect Answer Deduction of 0.25 marks
Unattempted Question No marks deducted

Candidates should add marks obtained in all four sections — General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability — to calculate their overall Phase 1 score.

Example:
If a candidate attempts 80 questions, gets 65 answers correct and 15 incorrect:

Score = (65 × 1) – (15 × 0.25) = 65 – 3.75 = 61.25 marks.

RBI Grade B 2026 Selection Process: What Happens Next?

Securing a score above the Phase 1 baseline is simply the first hurdle. The complete recruitment route follows three main elimination tiers:

  1. Phase 1 (Prelims): Objective screening test used exclusively as an entry filter; marks are not counted toward final merit.
  2. Phase 2 (Mains): A blend of objective and descriptive answer writing across three dedicated papers (Economic & Social Issues, English Writing Skills, and Finance & Management).
  3. Phase 3 (Interview): Personality evaluation round worth 75 marks. Final selection ranks are computed strictly using aggregate scores from Phase 2 and the Interview together (300 + 75 = 375 total marks).
