The State Bank of India (SBI) has initiated the online application process for the recruitment of 1,538 Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre, on August 7, 2026. The applications are open till August 27, 2026 at sbi.bank.in.  OBC candidates applying for this recruitment cycle must pay an application fee of Rs. 750. Remaining eligible candidates (SC,ST, PwD, XS, DXS) are exempted from application fee.

This recruitment drive is a special initiative by SBI to address backlog vacancies specifically reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates across various states and Union Territories. SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) 2026 recruitment must fulfil the educational qualification, age limit, and local language requirements specified in the official notification.

  • Educational Qualification: Hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.
  • Final-Year Students: Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation may apply provisionally, provided they obtain their degree on or before December 31, 2026 and produce proof of passing when required.
  • Age Limit: Applicants must be 20 to 28 years of age as on April 1, 2026.
  • Date of Birth: Eligible candidates must have been born between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006 (both dates inclusive).
  • Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the specified local language of the State/Union Territory they are applying for. Those unable to demonstrate proficiency will not be considered for final selection.

Note:

  • Negative Marking: 1/4th (0.25) of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer in both the Preliminary and Main examinations.
  • Merit List: Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not considered for preparing the final merit list. Only the Main Examination marks are used for final selection.
SBI Clerk 2026: Final Merit List and Language Proficiency

The final merit list will be prepared solely based on the marks secured in the main examination, subject to the successful completion of the required local language test. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10 or Class 12 and can furnish the relevant marksheet or certificate will be exempted from the Local Language Proficiency Test. Other provisionally selected candidates will be required to qualify in the LLPT before they can join the bank.
