MH CET Law 2026 counselling: Institute-level guidelines and registration dates released

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, today, September 23, 2026, announced the institute-level guidelines and updated registration dates for the MH CET Law 2026 Centralised Admission Process (CAP). This notification impacts candidates seeking admission to the 3-Year LLB and 5-Year Integrated LLB programmes offered by various law colleges across Maharashtra.

The counselling process, which is conducted entirely online, involves several stages including CAP registration, document verification, publication of merit lists, option form filling, seat allotment, and admission confirmation. Separate schedules and merit lists have been released for the 3-Year LLB and 5-Year LLB programmes, with a combined total of 27,100 seats available across both programmes.

MH CET Law 2026 Examination and Application Schedule

The MH CET Law 2026 examination was conducted separately for the 3-Year LLB and 5-Year LLB programmes. The 3-year LLB exam took place on April 1-2, 2026, while the 5-year LLB exam was held on May 8, 2026. Application forms for the 3-year LLB opened on January 8, 2026, and closed on March 3, 2026. For the 5-year LLB, applications commenced on January 9, 2026, with a deadline of March 31, 2026.

The examination is administered in both English and Marathi, comprising 120 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 120 minutes. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. The results for the MH CET Law 3-year LLB were declared on May 27, 2026.

Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for 3-Year LLB

The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for the MH CET 3-year LLB programme commenced with registration and document upload/e-scrutiny from June 8-10, 2026. The final date for CAP registration was June 22-24, 2026, with document verification concluding on June 25-27, 2026. The alphabetical merit list was released on June 29-30, 2026, followed by a grievance submission window from June 30 to July 2, 2026. The final merit list for 3-year LLB was published on July 4-5, 2026.

Option form filling for CAP Round 1 took place from July 5-8, 2026, with seat allotment results announced on July 11-12, 2026. Candidates allotted seats were required to report to their respective colleges from July 12-15, 2026. Subsequent rounds for CAP were also scheduled, with Round 2 option forms from July 16-18, 2026, and allotment on July 21-22, 2026. Round 3 registration and option editing occurred from July 24-26, 2026, with seat allotment on July 29-30, 2026. Institute-level vacancies are expected to be displayed in the first week of August 2026, followed by spot/institute-level admissions throughout August 2026.

Merit List and Seat Allotment Details

The final merit lists for various categories for both 5-year and 3-year LLB programmes were released on July 28, 2026, and July 24, 2026, respectively. This included lists for Maharashtra State candidates, Outside Maharashtra State candidates, Wards of Ex-Servicemen, and J&K Category candidates. The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, manages the publication of these lists as part of the online counselling process.

For the 5-year LLB programme, a total of 10,860 seats are available, while the 3-year LLB programme offers 16,240 seats. Candidates who qualified the MH CET Law 2026 entrance exam are required to register separately for the CAP, complete online registration, upload necessary documents, select college preferences, pay the counselling fee, and participate in the seat allotment rounds to secure admission.

Application Fees and Participating Institutions

The application fee for MH CET Law 2026 counselling varies by category. General category candidates from Maharashtra State, J&K migrant candidates, and Outside Maharashtra State candidates are required to pay Rs 1,000. Reserved category candidates from Maharashtra State, including ST, SC, VJ/DT (NT-A), NT-1(B), NT-2(C), NT-3(D), OBC, and SBC, have an application fee of Rs 800.

Several institutions participate in the MH CET Law 2026 counselling process, including Government Law College, Mumbai; University of Mumbai Law Academy, Mumbai; SVKM’s Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai; Marathwada Mitra Mandal’s Law College, Pune; DY Patil Law College, Pune; SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai; Amolakchand Law College, Yavatmal; Bharati Vidyapeeth’s New Law College, Sangli; and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur.
