AIT Pune, established in 1994 by the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), is distinct among engineering institutes in India as it exclusively admits wards of serving or retired Indian Armed Forces personnel. This eligibility criterion extends to wards of war widows of eligible Army personnel, covering Army, Navy, and Air Force services. The institute, which gained autonomous status from the academic year 2025-26, is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and operates under the aegis of AWES, with the Chief of Army Staff as the President of its Board of Governors.

Eligibility and Application Process for B.Tech 2027

To be considered for admission, candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria. A mandatory requirement is a valid JEE Main 2027 score. In addition, applicants must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 50 percent marks, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The admission process is conducted entirely online, and candidates are advised to keep their JEE Main scorecard and the service particulars of their parent ready for submission.

Shortlisting of candidates is based on JEE Main merit within the eligible candidate pool. After the JEE Main 2027 results are declared, candidates are required to upload their scores on the AIT portal. A branch-wise and category-wise merit list will then be prepared. The final stages of admission involve document verification and seat allotment, which are conducted through the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) counselling process.
