JECA 2026 e-counselling notification released for MCA admissions in West Bengal

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) released the e-counselling notification for JECA-2026 on September 15, 2026. This notification, bearing number WBE/EX-60, outlines the process for admission to the Master of Computer Application (MCA) course in government, self-financing, and private institutions and universities across West Bengal for the academic session 2026-27.

The JECA-2026 examination was conducted by WBJEEB on June 14, 2026, following an application period from April 9 to April 28, 2026. The e-counselling process is designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy in seat allocation, a practice WBJEEB has maintained since 2012 for various courses in the state.

JECA-2026 Counselling Process and Fees

The e-counselling for JECA-2026 will be conducted in three distinct rounds. Each round will encompass several stages, including fresh registration, choice filling, seat assignment, fee payment, and provisional acceptance of the allotted seat. Candidates must possess a valid General Merit Rank (GMR) in JECA-2026 to be eligible to register for the e-counselling.

A non-refundable counselling registration fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) is mandated for all participating candidates. During registration, applicants are required to submit personal information, academic details, bank account details for potential refunds, and their address. corrections or edits to registration details cannot be made after final submission.

The JECA-2026 application process, which concluded on April 28, 2026, also involved a fee structure that varied by candidate category:

Reservation Policies and Choice Filling Guidelines

Reservation policies for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories will strictly adhere to the extant rules of the Government of West Bengal. Reserved seats for these categories will not be converted or de-reserved into General (Unreserved) category seats in any round of counselling.

OBC candidates are required to produce an updated Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) certificate during the counselling and admission process. For PwD candidates, a minimum of forty percent (40%) specified disability is necessary for reservation eligibility. PwD certificates must be issued by authorities as per Order No. 289-HF /O/PHP/IR-05/2017 dated August 29, 2018, by the Government of West Bengal, Health & Family Welfare Department (PHP Branch).

Candidates are advised by WBJEEB to select at least 20 choices during the choice filling stage to increase their chances of seat allotment. Choices must be locked within the pre-announced date; otherwise, the last saved choices will be automatically locked by the system.

Seat Allotment and Post-Allotment Procedures

Seat allotment in Round-1 will be determined based on the General Merit Rank (GMR) of the candidate, eligibility criteria, applicable reservation rules, seat availability, and the order of choices filled by the candidate. The WBJEEB advises candidates to review the ‘Seat Matrix’ available on the Board’s website before proceeding with choice filling.

Candidates who are allotted their 1st choice in Round-1 are mandated to complete document verification and admission within the stipulated time. Failure to do so will result in their debarment from participating in any further rounds of counselling. Candidates who are allotted their 2nd or later choice in Round-1 have the option to choose ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for upgradation after paying the seat acceptance fee and completing document verification. Candidates must log in to the counselling portal to view their allotment status and download the allotment letter once Round-1 results are published.

JECA-2026 Examination Structure

The JECA-2026 examination, conducted on June 14, 2026, was an OMR-based Common Entrance Test. The exam comprised one paper with a total of 100 questions, carrying a maximum of 120 marks, to be completed within 2 hours. The question paper was structured into two categories:
