NEET UG 2026: Uttarakhand opens Round 3 NRI quota MBBS registration until 5 October

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University (HNBUMU), Dehradun, in conjunction with the Uttarakhand State Centralised Counselling Board, has initiated the third round of registration for NRI (Non-Resident Indian) quota MBBS seats. The registration window for prospective candidates opened today, 29 September 2026, and will close on 5 October 2026 at 5:00 PM server time.

This round of counselling specifically targets the 15% of MBBS seats reserved for NRI candidates in three private medical colleges located in Dehradun. These institutions are Shri Guru Ram Rai Medical Institute of Medical Sciences, Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, and Gautam Buddha Chiktsa Mahavidayalaya.

Registration Process and Fees for NRI Quota

NRI candidates interested in securing an MBBS seat through this quota must complete their registration online within the specified timeframe. A registration fee of ₹6,500 is required, along with a non-refundable security deposit of ₹1,00,000. All admissions under this quota are determined solely by merit, based on the NEET UG 2026 scores, with no separate entrance test conducted for these seats.

To be eligible, candidates must have qualified NEET UG 2026 with a valid scorecard. Also, candidates or their sponsors must possess valid NRI status, which includes Non-Resident Indian, OCI, PIO, or foreign residency. Proof of this status can be a foreign country passport, Green Card, Permanent Resident Card, proof of residency issued by a foreign competent authority, OCI Card, or PIO Card. Mandatory Documents and Verification

A total of 16 specific documents are mandatory for NRI quota MBBS admission. These include academic records, identity proofs, and documents verifying NRI sponsorship. Missing even one of these mandatory documents can lead to the rejection of admission, as colleges will verify all eligibility documents at the time of admission.

Allotted applicants are required to download their allotment letter and report to a designated center or the allotted college with all original documents. The fee payment must also be completed within a strict deadline. The table below outlines some of the key documents required for the admission process:

Tuition and Other Fees for Private Colleges

The tuition fees for NRI quota seats in the participating private medical colleges are set at USD 1,60,000. Besides the tuition, candidates must also pay a one-time admission fee of ₹50,000 and a security deposit of ₹1,00,000. These fees are significantly higher than those for general category seats, a common characteristic of the NRI quota designed to address the structural disadvantage faced by students educated abroad.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) published the final and revised Round 1 seat allotment results for NEET UG 2026 on 24 August 2026, with Round 1 reporting for Uttarakhand NEET Counselling concluding on 5 September 2026. The Re-NEET UG 2026 exam was held on 21 June 2026, and its provisional answer key was released on 25 June 2026.
