Eligibility Criteria and Selection Methodology
To be eligible for the AEE posts, candidates must possess a degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or be an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers of India in Mechanical. A valid GATE 2024, GATE 2025, or GATE 2026 score in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is a mandatory requirement. Candidates must be citizens of India and proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Odia.
The age limit for applicants is a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 42 years as of 1st January 2026. This means candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1984 and not later than 1st January 2005. The selection process will allocate 90% weightage to the valid GATE score and 10% weightage to the interview.
Vacancy Breakdown and Reservation
A total of 758 Assistant Executive Engineer vacancies have been announced, comprising 750 posts for Civil Engineering and 8 for Mechanical Engineering. These positions fall under Level-12, Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix as per ORSP Rules-2017.
For AEE Civil, 374 vacancies are for Unreserved (UR) candidates, 61 for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), 83 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 232 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). A total of 247 AEE Civil posts are earmarked for women. Of the 750 Civil vacancies, 612 are backlog from previous years, and 138 are current vacancies for 2025. In addition, 50 AEE Civil posts are reserved for Persons with Disabilities on a horizontal basis, and 8 posts are horizontally reserved for eligible sports persons, including 2 for women.
