CEED 2027 registration begins October 1 for M.Des, PhD admissions

IIT Bombay is set to open the registration process for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 on October 1, 2026. Aspiring candidates for Master of Design (M.Des) and PhD programs at various institutes can apply online through the official portal, ceed.iitb.ac.in. The examination is scheduled for January 17, 2027.

The application window with regular fees will be available for the entire month of October, closing on October 31, 2026. A late registration option with an additional fee will be provided for a brief period in early November.

CEED 2027 Application and Examination Schedule

The online application process for CEED 2027 will begin at 1:00 PM on October 1, 2026. Candidates will have until 11:59 PM on October 31, 2026, to complete their registration with the standard application fee. Following this, a late registration period will be active from November 1, 2026, to November 6, 2026, 5 PM, incurring an additional fee of INR 500.

The CEED Entrance Exam 2027 will be conducted in offline mode on January 17, 2027. IIT Bombay, the conducting body, is expected to release the official notification, along with detailed exam patterns and syllabi, on October 1, 2026.

Examination Structure and Fees

The CEED 2027 examination will be a 3-hour test, structured into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A will be computer-based and comprise objective questions, including Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), and Multiple Select Questions (MSQ). Part B will be conducted offline and will assess candidates’ design, drawing, and writing skills through five questions.

The application fee for CEED 2027, based on the previous cycle’s structure, is INR 2,000 for female candidates and those belonging to SC / ST / PwD categories. For all other categories, the application fee is INR 4,000. An additional INR 500 will be charged for late registrations. The exam is anticipated to be held in approximately 27 cities across India.

Application Process and Post-Exam Procedure

To register for CEED 2027, candidates must visit ceed.iitb.ac.in and provide their email ID, name, date of birth, gender, address, and mobile number, along with creating a password. After initial registration, candidates will be directed to an Eligibility Check for CEED 2027 window.

CEED does not involve a joint counselling or seat allocation process. Candidates who achieve a CEED merit rank are required to apply directly and separately to each participating institute for admission. A CEED score remains valid for one year from the date the result is declared. Institutions such as IIT Bombay, IISc Bengaluru, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur, IIITDM Kancheepuram, and IIT Gandhinagar are among those that accept CEED scores for their M.Des and PhD programs.
