The University of Delhi (DU) has extended the application window for its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) 2026-27 until October 23, 2026. This extension provides additional time for eligible students to apply for economic assistance, which includes fee waivers for various postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.

The scheme, administered by the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), aims to alleviate the financial burden on students by offering fee waivers based on annual family income. The initial deadline for online application submission was October 13, 2026, as per a notification issued around October 13, 2026.
Eligibility and Exclusions for FSS 2026-27
To qualify for the Financial Support Scheme, students must be full-time bonafide students enrolled in a Department, Institute, or Centre of the University of Delhi. The FSS 2026-27 is designed to provide economic assistance by offering fee waivers, which cover all fee components except examination and hostel fees.
However, several categories of students are excluded from the scheme. These include students enrolled in colleges, BTech programmes (except those at the Cluster Innovation Centre), the Five-Year Integrated Law Programme, the School of Open Learning (SOL), and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB). In addition, students with an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are ineligible. Students admitted under the Orphan Quota and those with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) are also ineligible, as they already receive fee waivers.
Application Process and Required Documents
Eligible candidates must submit their applications online through the official DSW portal at dsw.du.ac.in/financial-support-scheme. The application requires specific documentation to verify eligibility and financial status.
Applicants need to provide an income certificate or an EWS/OBC-NCL certificate for the 2025-26 financial year, issued by a competent authority. Notary-signed income certificates will not be accepted. Other required documents include self-attested copies of the latest Income Tax Returns (2025-26) for family members, PAN cards, a bonafide certificate, the latest fee receipt, and the marksheet from the most recent examination. A self-attested copy of the student’s bank passbook, displaying their name, account number, and IFSC code, is also mandatory. An undertaking form, available on the DSW website, must be submitted as well. The schedule for submitting physical copies of application forms and supporting documentation to the DSW office will be communicated at a later date.
Fee Waiver Structure
The FSS 2026-27 provides fee waivers based on the annual family income of the student. The scheme is divided into two categories, each with a specific fee waiver percentage and a maximum cap on the amount waived. This structure aims to provide targeted financial relief to students from lower-income families.
| Category | Annual Family Income | Fee Waiver | Maximum Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Category I | INR 0 to INR 4 lakh | 100% | INR 15,000 |
| Category II | Above INR 4 lakh to INR 8 lakh | 50% | INR 10,000 |
For any queries regarding the scheme, students can contact the DSW office via email at fss@dsw.du.ac.in. The scheme was initially announced by the DSW office through its official ‘X’ handle.
