The examination is scheduled to be conducted in two sessions, with Session 1 dates set for January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, 2027, and January 31 designated as a buffer day. Session 2 is expected to take place in April 2027.

The JEE Main exam is a crucial entrance test for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and institutions/universities funded or recognised by participating state governments. It also serves as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Paper 2 of the exam is for BArch and BPlanning courses.
Expected Examination Cities in Jharkhand
Based on previous years’ official lists, cities such as Bokaro, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Ramgarh are among those in Jharkhand that may host examination centres for JEE Main 2027. The NTA has not yet released the official city list for 2027, which candidates can expect to find in the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin.
In the 2026 cycle, Jharkhand had six examination cities. The NTA aims to widen its network of test cities to reduce the travel burden on candidates and manage candidate density effectively. The exact exam centre address will be provided on the admit card, while the city will be communicated earlier through the JEE Main City Intimation Slip, typically released 10 to 15 days before the examination.

Application Process and Centre Allotment
Interested candidates will be able to apply for JEE Main 2027 through the official portal, jeemain.nta.nic.in. During the application process, applicants can select up to a maximum of four cities of their choice within the states provided in their present and permanent address. The NTA makes efforts to allot the city of examination to candidates in the order of their preferences.
However, due to administrative or logistic reasons, a different city may be allotted. The NTA reserves the right to merge one, two, or more cities if there are very few candidates from a particular city. The decision of the NTA regarding the allotment of the exam city and centre will be final, and candidates cannot change the allotted test centre once assigned.
