The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for fresh admissions and re-registrations for the July 2026 academic session till 16th July 2026. The original deadline for the same was 15th July, extended further to July 31s, followed by the latest extension. Candidates seeking admission into Open and Distance Learning (ODL) or fully online mode undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and certificate programmes can now complete their applications at IGNOU Samarth ODL portal.Existing students looking to register for their next year or semester are also granted additional time under the extended re-registration window.

Who Can Apply for IGNOU July 2026 Extended Registrations

The eligibility criteria vary depending on whether the candidate is a fresh applicant or an existing student continuing their course:

• Fresh Applicants (Undergraduate): Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized education board. Minimum percentage criteria vary by program (generally 50% for management and professional streams).

• Fresh Applicants (Postgraduate): Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.

• Re-Registration Applicants: Existing IGNOU students currently enrolled in multi-year or multi-semester programs (such as BA, BCom, BSc, MA, MSc, MBA, MCA) who need to register for their 2nd/3rd year or next semester. Passing previous exams before re-registering is not strictly required, but form completion within the timeline is mandatory.

1. Visit the official IGNOU portal for relevant admission (as provided below).
2. Click New Registration and create an account using a valid email ID and mobile number.
3. Log in and select your preferred programme, Regional Centre, and Study Centre.
4. Fill in your personal, academic, and other required details, including APAAR/ABC ID information.
5. Upload the necessary documents, including photograph, signature, educational certificates, and category certificate (if applicable).
