Candidates belonging to Ranks 1 to 37,976 who submitted their choice preferences during the Round 1 window can now access their tentative allotment status on the official portal – www.tneaonline.org. 

This tentative allotment is an automated system-calculated seat placement based on Class 12 merit marks, category reservation rules, and choice preferences. Candidates must submit their confirmation response by July 25, 2026 (until 5:00 PM) to avoid cancellation of their seat.

How to Check TNEA 2026 Round 1 Tentative Seat Allotment

Candidates can check their tentative seat allotment by following these steps:

1. Visit the official Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions portal: tneaonline.org.

2. Click on the “Login” button on the home page.

3. Enter your registered Email ID/Username and Password.

4. Access your candidate dashboard and select the “Round 1 Tentative Seat Allotment Result” link.

5. View the allotted college, branch, and category.

6. Review your options carefully and submit your seat confirmation response before the deadline.

Upon viewing the tentative allotment, candidates are presented with up to five response choices depending on their allotment status:

What Happens After Candidates Submit their Responses

Once candidates submit their confirmation choices before the July 25 deadline, the TNEA algorithm processes the entire response database to finalize seat distributions. For candidates who select Accept and Join, the system locks their seat and generates the official Provisional Seat Allotment Order.

For those opting for Upward Movement, the system re-runs the allotment engine against seats vacated by candidates who declined or quit; if a higher-preference seat opens up, it is automatically assigned, whereas if no upward seat is available, their initially accepted tentative seat is retained. Candidates who fail to respond within the given timeframe automatically forfeit their allotted seat, and their allocation is cancelled.

Candidates who receive their provisional seat allotment order on July 26 must present the following original documents along with photocopies during reporting at the allotted institute:

• TNEA 2026 Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.

• Class 10 (SSLC) Mark Sheet.

• Class 12 (HSC) Mark Sheet / Higher Secondary Examination Mark Sheet.

• Class 12 Transfer Certificate (TC).

• Permanent Community Certificate Card (if applicable).

• Nativity Certificate (for candidates who studied Class 8 to 12 outside Tamil Nadu).

• First Graduate Certificate and Joint Declaration (if applicable).

• Government School 7.5% Special Reservation Certificate (for eligible Tamil Nadu government school students).

What After TNEA 2026 Round 1 Final Seat Allotment?

1. Download Allotment Order: Candidates who select “Accept and Join” or get upgraded via “Accept and Upward” can download their official Provisional Allotment Order starting July 26, 2026.

2. College Reporting: Candidates must physically report to the allotted college between July 26 and July 30, 2026, to pay the admission fees and verify certificates.

3. Upward Seat Allotment: Candidates opting for upward movement will receive their updated allotment status after the confirmation window closes.

4. Transition to Round 2: Candidates who declined seats or did not receive an allotment in Round 1 will be moved to Round 2 choice filling, scheduled to begin on August 3, 2026.
