UCEED 2027 exam date announced: register by October 31 for B.Des admissions

IIT Bombay has announced that the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 will be conducted on Sunday, January 17, 2027. The national-level entrance examination is a gateway for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes at participating Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other institutes.

Online registration for UCEED 2027 with regular fees commenced on October 1, 2026, at 5 PM, and the deadline for submission is October 31, 2026. Candidates who miss this deadline have an opportunity to register with a late fee until November 6, 2026, at 5 PM. The application fee is approximately ₹4,000 for General/EWS/OBC-NCL (Male) candidates and ₹2,000 for Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates, and once paid, it is non-refundable.
UCEED 2027 Examination Schedule and Structure
The UCEED 2027 examination will be a three-hour test held in the forenoon session, from 9 AM to 12 noon. It is a test centre-based examination, and candidates are advised to report to their allotted exam centre from 7 AM on the day of the exam. The total marks for the UCEED 2027 exam are 300. The examination comprises two compulsory parts: Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 57 objective-type questions, while Part B includes two questions, one sketching-based and one aptitude-based. Candidates must carry a printed UCEED admit card and a valid original photo ID proof on exam day.
The UCEED 2027 admit card will be available for download from January 1, 2027, at 1 PM. The last date to report any error in the admit card is January 8, 2027, at 5 PM. Following the examination, the draft Part A answer key and candidate responses will be released on January 19, 2027. Candidates can submit comments on the draft answer key until January 21, 2027, at 5 PM. The final answer key for Part A will be released on January 26, 2027, at 5 PM. Part A shortlisting will be announced on February 4, 2027, and the UCEED 2027 results will be declared on March 6, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria and Participating Institutes
Students who have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2026, or are appearing in 2027 for the first time, in any stream (Science, Commerce, or Arts & Humanities) are eligible to appear for UCEED 2027. A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times in consecutive years. The UCEED score is valid for one year only, for admissions in the same academic year. The B.Des application for UCEED 2027 qualified students is scheduled for March 15, 2027, with admission rounds for seat allocation beginning on April 21, 2027.
UCEED scores are used for admission to B.Des programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee, and IIITDM Jabalpur. While IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Indore accept all streams (Science, Commerce, Arts), IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur require Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 12. The 2027 participating institute list and admission details will be released with the official UCEED 2027 information. The CEED 2027 exam, for Master of Design and PhD design programmes, is also scheduled for January 17, 2027, in the forenoon session.
