UCEED 2027 Part B cutoff released by IIT Bombay: check category-wise scores

IIT Bombay today, 8 October 2026, released the UCEED 2027 Part B cutoff scores and evaluation criteria, outlining the minimum marks required for candidates to qualify for the examination and be assigned a rank. The announcement provides clarity for aspirants seeking admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme through UCEED 2027.

The UCEED 2027 examination, scheduled for January 17, 2027, will carry a total of 300 marks, with Part A accounting for 200 marks and Part B for 100 marks. Qualification in UCEED 2027 requires candidates to satisfy the criteria for both Part A and Part B.

UCEED 2027 Part B Cutoff Scores and Evaluation

The UCEED Part B cutoff for 2027 has been fixed separately for each category. Candidates must meet their applicable Part B cutoff after being shortlisted through Part A. The Part B answer booklets of candidates not shortlisted through Part A will not be evaluated. Part B consists of two questions focusing on sketching and design aptitude, with a duration of one hour.

The category-wise Part B cutoff scores are as follows:

All candidates who qualify both Parts A and B will be considered Qualified in UCEED 2027 and will be assigned a rank. The rank list will be prepared based on the total marks, which is the sum of Part A and Part B marks. In case of a tie in total marks, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate with higher marks in Part B. If the tie persists, higher marks in Section 2 of Part A will be considered, followed by Section 1 of Part A. If a tie still remains, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

UCEED 2027 Part a Criteria and Shortlisting

Part A of UCEED 2027 is worth 200 marks and comprises 57 questions across NAT, MSQ, and MCQ sections, with a maximum time of two hours. The Part A cutoff is the minimum score needed for Part B to be evaluated and to earn an All India Rank. The UCEED Part A cutoff 2027 will not be a predetermined number but will be calculated based on the average marks and standard deviation of marks obtained by all candidates.

For UCEED 2027, the official Part A cut-off was 83.75 for General, 75.37 for OBC-NCL/EWS, and 41.87 for SC/ST/PwD. This was calculated as μ + (σ/2) from a mean of 70.86 and a standard deviation of 25.77. If the number of candidates meeting the applicable Part A measure is 6,400 or fewer, that measure will act as the Part A cutoff. If more than 6,400 candidates meet the measure, only the top 6,400 candidates based on Part A marks will be shortlisted.

The General cutoff for Part A has shown an upward trend, increasing from 78 in 2024 to 81 in 2025, and 83.75 in 2026. This rise is attributed to an increase in the number of students attempting UCEED and greater accessibility of coaching content. The 2027 paper, with a mean of 70.86 compared to 61.50 in 2025, contributed to the qualifying bar jumping from 74.35 to 83.75.

Important Dates and Result Declaration

The UCEED 2027 Notification & Application Form was expected on October 1, 2026. The examination is scheduled for January 17, 2027. IIT Bombay will release the UCEED 2027 draft answer key and Part A responses on January 19, 2027. Candidates can submit comments or objections on the draft answer key until January 21, 2027. The final Part A answer key is scheduled for January 26, 2027.

UCEED 2027 results will be declared on March 06, 2027, and will be available exclusively on the official website, www.uceed.iitb.ac.in. Candidates can download their Score Card from March 10, 2027, to July 31, 2027. Hard copies of the UCEED Score Card will not be made available, and email requests for sharing the Score card will not be entertained. Digital copies of scorecards will be maintained at the UCEED office for a maximum of five years. There is no provision for re-evaluation, re-grading, or re-totalling of either Part A or Part B in UCEED 2027.

Securing a rank in UCEED 2027 does not guarantee admission to the B.Des. programme. Admission depends on the opening and closing ranks of the participating institutions.
