UCEED 2027 Examination Structure and Syllabus

UCEED 2027 is a three-hour examination divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Part B is a descriptive section designed to evaluate drawing ability and design aptitude, with answers to be written or drawn in a physical answer book, though the questions are displayed on the computer screen.

Part B is evaluated only if a candidate clears the Part A cutoff. The UCEED 2027 syllabus broadly covers Visualization and spatial ability, Practical & Scientific Knowledge, Observation and design sensitivity, Environmental and social awareness, Analytical and logical reasoning, Language comprehension, Creativity, Drawing and visual communication, and Design aptitude. The UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee 2027 (UCI Committee) holds the final decision in all matters concerning UCEED 2027.

B.Des Programmes at Participating Iits

The B.Des programme at IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, commenced in 2015. It offers a four-year / eight-semester B.Des programme and a five-year / ten-semester dual degree B.Des. + M.Des. programme. Students admitted to the B.Des programme at IIT Bombay are not eligible for branch change to any other undergraduate programme. The Department of Design (DoD) at IIT Delhi offers B.Des, B.Tech in Design, M.Des, and PhD programs, with its B.Des programme being an eight-semester (four-year) course.

The UCEED score is accepted by a total of eight institutions, all using the same UCEED score for admissions. Part A of the examination determines the candidate’s rank, while Part B influences which IIT selects the candidate for final admission rounds after the Part A merit list is published. An illustrative UCEED score of 200+ indicates a strong chance at IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi, while scores between 190-200 suggest a realistic shot at IIT Guwahati or IIT Hyderabad, based on recent cycles.

Total Score (out of 300) Indicative Outcome
200+ Outstanding — strong chance at IIT Bombay / IIT Delhi
190–200 Very good — realistic shot at IIT Guwahati / IIT Hyderabad
170–190 Decent — IIT Roorkee / IIITDM Jabalpur range
Below 170 Focus on improving accuracy, GK, and drawing quality
