GBPUAT Assistant Professor recruitment 2026: apply by 16 October

Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, has initiated the recruitment process for 63 Assistant Professor positions across seven colleges. The application deadline for these posts, under Employment Notice No. A-31/2026, is 16 October 2026, until 5:00 PM.

The recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies in 40 disciplines through direct recruitment, with selected candidates receiving an Academic Level 10 pay, starting with an entry pay of Rs. 57,700/- per month. This announcement follows the cancellation of a previous recruitment notice, A-28/2025, issued on 28 January 2025.

Application Process and Fees

The application process for the Assistant Professor posts is strictly offline. Candidates are required to submit their completed application forms, along with necessary documents, only via Speed Post or Registered Post to the Chief Personnel Officer Office, Pantnagar. The application format (Annexure-I) and score card format (Annexure-II) are available on the official website, www.gbpuat.ac.in.

Application fees vary by candidate category. Unreserved (UR) and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates must pay Rs. 1500/-, while Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates are required to pay Rs. 1000/-. Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates have a fee of Rs. 750/-. The fee must be paid through a Demand Draft made in favour of the Comptroller, GBPUAT, Pantnagar.

Eligibility Criteria Across Colleges

Eligibility requirements for the Assistant Professor positions vary depending on the college and discipline. For most colleges, including Agriculture, Community Science, Basic Sciences & Humanities, and Fisheries, candidates generally need a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks and must have qualified NET/SLET/SET, or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC 2009/2016 Regulations.

For the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, candidates must possess a B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree registered with a State/Central Veterinary Council, in addition to a Master’s degree and NET/SLET/SET or a Ph.D. The College of Technology requires candidates to have a B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. or an Integrated M.Tech. in the relevant branch with a first-class standing, adhering to AICTE norms. Candidates applying for the College of Agribusiness Management need a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, a Master’s in Business Administration/PGDM/CA/ICWA/M.Com. with first class, and two years of professional experience. A 5% relaxation in marks is provided for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) and differently-abled candidates. Candidates from other states will be considered under the Unreserved category.

Selection Procedure and Previous Notice Cancellation

The selection process for Assistant Professor positions at GBPUAT involves two main stages: screening based on an Academic/Research Score and an interview. Candidates will be assessed on their Academic/Research Score, which carries a maximum of 100 marks. Following this, an interview will be conducted for eligible candidates, carrying a maximum of 20 marks. The final selection will be based solely on the marks obtained in the interview. The university reserves the right to conduct a written or qualifying examination or presentation at its discretion.

GBPUAT had previously issued Employment Notice No. A-28/2025 on 28 January 2025, for various posts including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Assistant Librarian, and Assistant Director (Physical Education). This notice has been cancelled. Candidates who applied under the cancelled notice must submit a fresh application against the current Employment Notice No. A-31/2026, and their previously paid application fee will be refunded. Retirement and other service benefits for the selected candidates will be in accordance with Uttarakhand State Government orders.
