WB HS Semester 3 board exam 2027 begins today: check revised timings, key rules

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) is commencing the Higher Secondary Semester III Examination, 2027, today, September 21, 2026. The examinations are scheduled to run until October 14, 2026, across West Bengal.

The Council had to partially revise the examination routine due to by-elections slated for October 6, 2026, in Rejinagar AC (Murshidabad) and Nandigram AC (Purba Medinipur). This revision affects three specific examination dates, extending the overall exam period.

Revision of Examination Schedule

The WBCHSE issued a partially revised examination schedule through Notification No. L/PR/348/2026 on September 10, 2026. This notification superseded the original routine, which was released via Notification No. L/PR/242/2026 on June 25, 2026. The latest revision specifically postpones three examinations that were originally scheduled for October 5, 6, and 7, 2026.

These three examinations have been rescheduled to October 12, 13, and 14, 2026, respectively. So, the last examination, which was previously set for October 7, 2026, will now be held on October 14, 2026. The by-elections on October 6, 2026, were the stated reason for these adjustments.

Key Examination Timings and Format

All examinations will commence at 11:00 AM. The duration for some papers is 1 hour 30 minutes, while others are set for 1 hour. For instance, the rescheduled examinations on October 12, 13, and 14, 2026, will all be conducted from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

The examination format is offline, using a pen and paper method. The question papers will include a mix of 30% objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), which are Optical Mark Recognition-based, and 70% subjective or descriptive questions. Students are advised to adhere strictly to the updated schedule.

Revised Subject-Wise Dates

The revision primarily impacted Mathematics and Biological Science papers. The Mathematics examination, initially scheduled for October 5, 2026, has been moved to October 12, 2026. Similarly, the Biological Science paper, originally slated for October 7, 2026, will now be conducted on October 14, 2026.

The revised schedule ensures that students have clarity on their examination dates, particularly for these critical subjects. The WBCHSE has outlined the full revised routine to guide candidates through the examination period.

Instructions for Candidates

Students appearing for the Higher Secondary Semester III examination must follow the latest revised routine and not rely on any earlier schedules.
