The Directorate of Public Instruction, Chhattisgarh, commenced online applications on 1 October 2026 for 1,812 contractual teaching and non-teaching positions in Swami Atmanand Utkrisht English Medium Schools (SAGES) across the state. The detailed notification (No. 97/SAGES/CBT/Notification/2026) was released on 29 September 2026, following a brief advertisement issued on 9 September 2026.

The recruitment drive aims to fill academic and non-academic posts, including Lecturer, Headmaster, Assistant Teacher, Teacher, PT Teacher, Librarian, Computer Teacher, and Laboratory Assistant. The application window is open until midnight on 21 October 2026, with selection to be made through a Computer Based Test (CBT).

Eligibility Criteria and Reservations

Applicants must be domiciled in Chhattisgarh and must be between 21 and 35 years of age as on 1 January 2026. Age relaxation provisions are available for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules. For English medium posts, candidates must have studied in the English medium from Class 6 up to their highest degree, with the exception of Hindi and Sanskrit Lecturer and Teacher positions.

Reservation policies include 30% of posts for women (horizontal reservation) under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Special Provisions for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997. Additionally, 7% of posts are reserved for persons with disabilities, and reservation for ex-servicemen is as per Government rules. Contract teaching staff already working in SAGES are ineligible to apply for the same post but may apply for a higher post.

Post-Wise Vacancies and Honorarium

A total of 1,812 vacancies are available across various academic and non-academic categories. The highest number of vacancies are for Assistant Teacher (590 posts), followed by Lecturer (515 posts) and Teacher (336 posts). The contractual appointments offer a fixed monthly lump-sum honorarium, which varies by post.

Lecturers and Headmasters (Upper Primary School) will receive Rs. 38,100 per month, while Headmasters (Primary School), Teachers (all subjects), PT Teachers, and Computer Teachers will receive Rs. 35,400. Assistant Teachers and Laboratory Assistants are offered Rs. 25,300, and Librarians will receive Rs. 22,400 per month.

Educational Qualifications Required

Specific educational qualifications are mandated for each post. Lecturer positions require a Master’s degree with at least second class in the relevant subject and a mandatory B.Ed. For Headmaster, Primary School, candidates need Higher Secondary (12th) with at least 45% marks, D.Ed/D.El.Ed, and a TET (Primary level) pass.

Headmaster, Upper Primary School posts require Graduation with at least 45% marks, D.Ed/B.Ed/D.El.Ed, and a TET (Upper Primary level) pass. Assistant Teacher posts necessitate Higher Secondary (12th) with at least 45% marks (or 50% as per NCTE norms) and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed/D.El.Ed) or B.El.Ed or Special Education diploma, along with a TET (Primary level) pass. Teacher posts require Graduation with at least 45% marks and D.Ed/B.Ed/D.El.Ed (or equivalent NCTE-recognized qualification), and a TET (Upper Primary level) pass. Librarian posts require Graduation with at least second class and a mandatory B.Lib degree. Teacher (Computer) posts require Graduation with at least second class in Computer Science/IT/Computer Applications, while Laboratory Assistant posts require Higher Secondary from a recognized board with Biology/Mathematics group.
