NICL Assistant Vacancy 2026

NICL has announced a total of 500 Assistant vacancies under the recruitment drive. The category-wise vacancy distribution includes 255 posts for the Unreserved category, 104 for OBC, 67 for SC, 38 for EWS and 36 for ST candidates.

Among the states and Union Territories, Maharashtra has the highest number of vacancies with 57 posts, followed by Tamil Nadu with 49 vacancies and West Bengal with 46 vacancies.

NICL Assistant Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates applying for the Assistant post must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

The age of applicants should be between 21 and 30 years as on July 1, 2026. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per the applicable government rules.

Apart from educational qualification and age, candidates are required to have knowledge of the regional language of the state or Union Territory for which they are applying. Candidates will have to demonstrate their proficiency through the Regional Language Test during the selection process.

NICL Assistant Application Fee

Candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories are required to pay an application fee of Rs 850. Candidates from SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying the application fee.

The application and fee payment deadline is August 7, 2026. Candidates should avoid waiting until the last few hours to complete the process, as technical issues or heavy traffic on the application portal could cause delays.

NICL Assistant Selection Process 2026

The selection process for NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in multiple stages. Candidates will first appear for the Phase 1 Preliminary Online Examination. Those who qualify will be eligible to appear for the Phase 2 Main Online Examination.

Candidates clearing the written examinations will then have to appear for the Regional Language Test. Document verification and a medical examination will also be part of the recruitment process.

Both the preliminary and main examinations will have negative marking. As per the recruitment details, one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

NICL Assistant Salary 2026

Selected candidates will receive a salary under the prescribed pay scale for the Assistant post. The starting basic pay is reported as Rs 36,290, while the approximate monthly gross emoluments can reach around Rs 63,000 at metropolitan centres, depending on applicable allowances and benefits.

Employees will also be eligible for benefits such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance and other benefits according to NICL rules.
