NTA exam calendar 2026-27 released: tentative dates for JEE Main, CUET PG till March

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on September 16, 2026, released its NTA Exam Calendar 2026-27, providing tentative dates for major entrance examinations scheduled from December 2026 up to March 2027. This calendar, available on the NTA’s official website (nta.ac.in), aims to enhance transparency and assist candidates and educational institutions in planning their academic and examination-related activities.

The newly released calendar covers nine examination entries, including key tests such as JEE (Main) – Session 1 (January) and CUET (PG) – Common University Entrance Test (Post-Graduate). The NTA, established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), as an independent testing organization, conducts efficient and transparent tests for admission to Higher Educational Institutions.

Tentative Examination Schedule for December 2026

The NTA Exam Calendar 2026-27 outlines several examinations proposed for December 2026. The Rashtriya Indian Military College examination is tentatively scheduled for December 6, 2026, as a one-day event. Following this, the SWAYAM examination is proposed to be held from December 8 to 12, 2026, spanning five days. The Rashtriya Military Schools examination is set for December 13, 2026.

Further into December, the UGC NET December Cycle 2026 is proposed from December 14 to 19, 2026, with buffer dates of December 20 to 21, 2026, making it a six-day examination window. The Joint CSIR UGC NET December Cycle 2026 is scheduled for December 20 to 21, 2026, over two days. These dates are subject to change due to administrative, academic, statutory, logistical, or other unforeseen circumstances, as stated by the NTA.

January and February 2027 Key Examinations

The calendar extends into early 2027 with several significant entrance examinations. The Army Cadets College examination is proposed for January 4, 2027. January 10, 2027, is a busy day, with both the SHRESHTA (NETS) examination and the NIFT Entrance Examination tentatively scheduled for that date. The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – Session 1 (January) is proposed for January 22–24 and January 28–30, 2027, with a buffer date of January 31, 2027, providing a six-day window for the engineering entrance exam.

The All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination is proposed for January 31, 2027. Moving into February, the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is tentatively scheduled for February 7, 2027. Additionally, the NITTT – National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training (Part 1) is proposed for February 26–27, 2027, spanning two days.

March 2027 Schedule and NTA’s Advisory

March 2027 features the extensive CUET (PG) – Common University Entrance Test (Post-Graduate), which is proposed for March 1–5, March 8, March 12–20, and March 24–25, 2027. This examination has buffer dates of March 30–31, 2027, making it a 17-day testing period. The NITTT (Part 2) is also proposed for March 5 and March 7, 2027, over two days.

The NTA has clarified that this calendar is not an examination notification or a confirmation of final dates. Separate information bulletins and exam-specific notices will be issued for each examination at the appropriate time. The NTA has advised candidates to regularly visit its official website and the respective examination portals for the latest updates and to rely only on information published on these official sources. Candidates are encouraged to use this calendar to plan their preparation according to the proposed examination dates.
