Crucial Instructions for Candidates

The counselling authorities have strongly advised students not to wait until the final hours to complete the choice-locking process. A heavy volume of traffic on the server during the last minutes can cause technical delays.

Experts suggest that candidates should add a large number of options to their list. The seat allotment software works top-down. It starts evaluating options from your first preference and moves downwards based on your JEE Main rank and seat availability. Therefore, adding both aspirational colleges (ambitious choices) and realistic safety colleges helps maximize the chances of getting a seat in the first round.

Only those students whose documents were cleared by the central verification team will see the choice filling link on their screens.

What Happens After Round 1 Seat Allotment?

Once AKTU announces the seat allotment results on July 18, 2026, students who receive an offer must choose a “willingness option” between July 18 and July 20. Candidates have two choices:

  • Freeze: Choose this if you are completely satisfied with the allotted college and course. This option secures your seat and takes you out of any further rounds of allotment.

  • Float: Choose this if you want to provisionally accept the current seat but wish to be considered for a higher-preference college or branch upgrade in the next round.

Important Note: To confirm either the Freeze or Float option, candidates must pay a seat acceptance fee online. The fee is Rs 20,000 for General and OBC category candidates, and Rs 12,000 for SC and ST category candidates. Failure to pay the fee within the given dates will result in the automatic cancellation of the allotted seat, and the candidate will be removed from the regular counselling cycle.
