JAC Chandigarh Round 2 Choice Filling 2026 Starts; Seat Allotment on July 18

The Joint Admission Committee (JAC), Chandigarh has officially started the Round 2 choice filling and locking process for engineering and architecture admissions. Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech, B.E., and B.Arch courses in premier technical institutes of Chandigarh can now update or fill their fresh preferences.

The choice filling window opened on July 15, 2026, and will remain active until July 17, 2026. Candidates are advised to log in to the official portal at jacchd.admissions.nic.in to finalize their lists before the closing date. Following this, the Round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on July 18, 2026.

JAC Chandigarh Round 2 Counselling Schedule 2026

To avoid missing any crucial deadlines, applicants must keep track of the official dates released by the committee:

Event Important Dates
Round 2 Choice Filling & Locking Window July 15 to July 17, 2026
Round 2 Seat Allotment Result July 18, 2026 (After 8:00 PM)
Submission of Fee & Willingness (Float/Freeze) July 18 to July 20, 2026
Withdrawal of Seat After Round 2 July 21, 2026

Who is Eligible for JAC Chandigarh Round 2?

Not everyone has the same permissions during this round. The eligible candidates are broadly divided into three types:

  • Type-I (No Seat Allotted): Registered candidates who did not get any seat in Round 1. Modifying choices is optional for them. If they choose not to make changes, their Round 1 choices will carry forward automatically.

  • Type-II (Freeze / No Upgradation): Candidates who secured a seat in Round 1, paid the token fee, and submitted their willingness as “No Upgradation” (Freeze). These candidates cannot modify their choices in Round 2.

  • Type-III (Float / Yes Upgradation): Candidates who accepted a Round 1 seat but chose “Yes Upgradation” (Float). They can modify their choices. However, they must keep their previously allotted option somewhere in their new preference list, or the system will not let them save changes.

How to Fill and Lock Choices for Round 2

Completing your preference entry requires careful execution. Follow these steps to ensure your choices are successfully saved:

1. Log In to the Portal

Visit jacchd.admissions.nic.in and log in using your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and your account password.

2. Access Choice Filling:

Navigate to the ‘Candidate Activity Board’ and select the link for “Round 2 Choice Filling and Locking”.

3. Reorder and Add Preferences:

Analyze the available B.Tech/B.E./B.Arch seats across participating colleges. Use the arrow or drag tools to place your top choices at the peak of your list.

4. Save Progress Regularly:

Click on ‘Save and Continue’ frequently to avoid losing your arrangement due to automated session timeouts.

5.Lock and Print:

Once thoroughly reviewed, click on ‘Lock Choices’. Download or print the choice submission slip for your personal admission records.

Post-Allotment Procedure: What Happens Next?

Once the results are declared on July 18, 2026, after 8:00 PM, candidates who secure fresh seats must act promptly:

  1. Seat Acceptance Fee: Newly allotted candidates must pay an online admission fee of ₹40,000 via net banking, debit, or credit card to protect their seat. The deadline for this is July 20, 2026.

  2. Willingness Submission: Choose whether you want to ‘Freeze’ your current seat or ‘Float’ for better options in Round 3.

  3. Seat Withdrawal: If a candidate decides they no longer want to remain part of the JAC Chandigarh process after Round 2, they can formally withdraw online on July 21, 2026.

Important Note: If you are allotted a fresh seat in Round 2 and fail to pay the ₹40,000 seat acceptance fee within the designated timeline, your current allotment will be summarily cancelled, and you will be pushed out of the regular subsequent rounds.
